The focus of WGBC is to raise the profile of the Wines of BC (the BC VQA brand) and the Wine Regions of BC, through a creative and strategic marketing and communications program, and to lobby governments to put in place policies that will create a better business climate for the wine industry. All of the Province’s BC VQA Wine Stores also fall under the umbrella of the BCWI.
WGBC has a voluntary membership of BC VQA producing wineries and grape grower partners. While the winery member fee is based on the amount of BC VQA wine sold in BC, grape grower partners pay a nominal annual fee of $100. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Formed in the summer of 2024, the BC Wine Grape Industry Task Force brings together 5 key industry associations (BC Wine Grape Council, Wine Growers BC, BC Grapegrowers Association, BC Wine Authority, Wine Island Growers Association), winery owners, growers and key industry stakeholders. The group was established at the request of the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food to create a collaborative, strategic approach to shaping the future of the industry.
Designed as an initial two-year initiative, the task force emphasizes broad industry input through workshops, focus groups, and consultations. This process ensures everyone feels ownership of the final plan, which will serve as a clear roadmap for sustainable growth and a unified path forward for BC’s wine grape industry.

The Cross-Commodity Leadership Support Project (CCLSP) was launched in 2023 as a pilot forum for tree fruit and wine grape industries to work together on common challenges and opportunities.
Partners Include: BCCA, BCFGA, BCGA, BCWGC, and OKSIR
The project is a partnership of five industry associations and it was born out of the recommendations in the Tree Fruit Industry Stabilization Plan (TFISP). The project intends to bolster capacity in leadership and project management across tree fruit and wine grape sectors. In the short-term, the CCLSP provides a pathway for the TFISP to evolve from a government-led process to industry-led. It aims to demonstrate the value and viability of cross-commodity collaboration and determine the best structure for working together.

Canadian Grapevine Certification Network (CGCN) is a Canada-wide not for profit organization comprised of members from four of Canada's provincial grape growing associations. It's our mission to ensure Canadian grape growers have access to domestic, high-quality, certified clean grapevine material.
Clean grapevines are the key to the production of high-quality wine, and necessary for the Canadian grape and wine sector to be competitive and sustainable. But grapevine viruses can cause very serious diseases and can lead to major crop losses.
We are committed to research initiatives that support the thriving Canadian wine industry.
Education is also key which is why our Certification Committee has developed Certification Programs to reduce the prevalence of grapevine viruses and ensure long-term vineyard sustainability.

We represent Canadian wine growers. From the vineyard to the table, ours is a sustainable industry with incredible pride in the award-winning wines we produce.
For more than 50 years, Wine Growers Canada (WGC) has acted as a unified voice representing the national and international interests of Canadian wineries from coast to coast.
Our members consist of wineries of all sizes that are responsible for more than 90% of all wine produced in Canada. This includes 100% Canadian, Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) wines and International-Domestic Blended (IDB) wine products.
Wine Growers Canada works cooperatively with governments and other stakeholders to respond to the business needs and interests of our membership, finding solutions that benefit both society and the entire Canadian wine industry. We advocate on a wide range of public policy initiatives related to Canadian wine making and grape growing.

The British Columbia Wine Authority, or BCWA, is the designated body in the Province of British Columbia that has the responsibility of managing and enforcing the system of wine standards established under the Province’s “Wines of Marked Quality Regulation (the Regulation)”. The Wine Authority oversees the BC Vintners Quality Alliance program, ensuring that wines produced across BC are of marked quality, meet the labeling regulations, and use the correct geographical indicators for wines made from grapes in the different regions of our province.
We provide assurance to consumers of qualifying BC wines that the wine they have purchased is made from 100 percent BC grapes, is free from certain potential faults, and the labels on the wines comply with the Regulation — including where the grapes are grown and the wine is produced. This is verified through the BC VQA program and Inspections.
Truth in labelling ensures that BC wine drinkers, whether they are enjoying their first bottle of BC wine or have been an enthusiast for years, know where their wine comes from, including discovering and learning about the unique regional (geographical indicators, and sub geographical indicators) terroirs identified in the Province. All labels are reviewed and approved by the BCWA for compliance with the Regulation.
